Your Inner Child: Passionate Confusion

Intrinsic vs. Extrinsic Value

Everyone has a private and a public face. We have two faces and it is our responsibility to make sure that we are smiling on both sides of the coin. It is easy to become content with the material possessions and luxurious toys, but what about the intrinsic side? One can have every possession and necessity in the world. It may be satisfying on the outside, but does it truly make you happy?

Self-discovery is a lifelong project that people have to work on themselves. Most people struggle to find out what their purpose is in life. People are influenced by external factors instead of what lies inside of them. Don’t get me wrong, no one is exempt from thinking about external circumstances such as money, family, friends, status, and extrinsic impact on society. However, it is important to look at the other side of life.

Intrinsic value is important to examine in one’s life. In order to improve in life, there must be persistence, passion, and purpose to achieve the dream. Also, it is important to take care of yourself in every aspect. If you are a person that loves to make an impact on society, self-care may take a while for you to truly understand. I am one of them and it took a while for me to grasp a little selfishness. It’s okay to be a little selfish because there is no way that someone can burn themselves to make others warm. However, at the same time, you do not want to be that person that keeps the flame to their self while others are freezing.

Author’s Confession

Personally, I said last time on the first Passionate Confusion post that my passion was article writing. I changed my mind, my passion is simply creative brainstorming. It’s okay to change your mind because it is your life. To be completely blunt with you, I don’t know where my brainstorming will take me. I think that my passion is in the realm of creative writing. The reason why is that I remember when I was in middle school drawing comics from my own imagination. I loved it, regardless of what everyone thought at that time. I was enjoying myself getting lost in the process and I did not care about the result. It was like an adventure inside my mind that I can create with any image or words at any moment. To me, this was fun and that was true happiness.

Unfortunately, life got in the way and I had to focus on my studies. Even though I am still doing that, I am making a concerted effort to make time for writing short stories and occasional articles. Which brings me to the next point. Make time and turn your dreams into a reality. Test yourself to the limits of whatever the passion or hobby may be, regardless if it is for monetary gain. There is no such thing as finding the time, make the time. Play with your inner child.

Your Inner Child

Your inner child is the guide that can lead you to places where success is waiting for you. Look back to when you were a child and the activities that made you genuinely happy. Most kids do a variety of activities for the sake of having fun. For me, as a kid, here are the activities that made me happy. Doodling, fitness, listening to music, writing, video games, reading comics and researching random topics on the internet. And in those hobbies, some of them stayed as leisure activities and some of them turned into passions. So, make time to play with your inner child.

If you don’t make the time, it is like watering a plant. If the plant is not watered consistently, then the plant will wither and die in the dirt. Some people believe that talent is all that people need in order to succeed. You may have all of the talents in the world. However, how can anyone else see the talent that you have if you are not willing to show people through work? Faith without works is dead according to the Bible on James 2:14-26. Even though I am not a religious person, I hold that verse close to my soul because it is true. It is like you are hiding your talent from the world. So, how can you be successful in the world if you hide your gift from people?

My Personal Breakthrough

I am one of the people in the world that wants to make a positive impact in society. However, I had a recent breakthrough and I am happy to share it with everyone. I had always thought that I had to make an impact through my career. My ideal career was creative, independent, values constant learning, and making an impact on society. I realized that I do not need to make a social impact through my career. I can impact society through my earnings and time.

Now, there are careers that produce positive results on society. However, they do not interest me. What is interesting to me are variety, creativity, collaboration, and independence. I want a career where I can be creative and my ideas will come to life through my imagination and research, mostly imagination. That makes my cheeks rise up shining bright with the sun in the sky. That is why I feel like I am going to invest most of my time with fictional creative writing. It allows me to play around with scenarios and adventures with the stroke of my pen.

Now for the first time in my life, I feel confident to pursue my dream and not worry about the condition of society through my career. I am looking forward to the day that I pinpoint my passion and earn astounding achievements that will impact myself and society. That’s my gift. Do yourself a favor for 2019, it is time to show your gift to the world so you can make a difference through your passion. Not just making a difference in society, but most importantly, yourself. Show your gift unapologetically.
